Commercial Meter Connections

Developments such as commercial, medium density, or industrial developments may require larger service connections than the standard residential property.

Combo meter

Shoalhaven Water will install 25mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 80mm, and 100mm metered services for a set fee. Services larger than 100mm will be quoted on request.

Once a meter is installed, the property owner will be issued availability charges based on the size of the connection. Follow this link to view Shoalhaven City Council’s Fees & Charges.

How do I apply for a Commercial Water Meter Connection?

To apply for a metered service connection for your commercial, medium density, or industrial development, submit our online Connections, Manifolds & Fire Services Request.

When using our online form, you will be required to submit a Service Location Plan in either JPG or PDF format. Refer to further information below.

In some instances, we request you investigate on the Dial Before You Dig website whether your service is a long or short service. This helps to identify which side of the street the water main is located and whether a conduit is in place. Determining whether you require a short or long service will help you to budget for the cost of the installation.

Manifold Installations

If your development requires 2 or more 20mm meter connections, then you will require a manifold installation.

Our process allows for staged installation of services for developments that may not require all services to be connected at once.

Fire Service Installations

Shoalhaven Water will install fire services at the property boundary. Internal plumbing works are the responsibly of the property owner.

Our online request will require Hydraulic Plans and Water Sizing Calculations that have been prepared by a hydraulic consultant or plumber. Refer to below information.

On request, we will install any of the below mentioned combinations:
  • Stand-alone Fire Service
  • Combination Meter & Fire Service
  • Manifold, Bulk Meter & Fire Service

Hydraulic Plans & Water Sizing Calculations

You may be required to submit hydraulic plans or water sizing calculations to support your request for a new service connection. This must be provided by a qualified consultant such as a plumber or hydraulics consultant in accordance with AS3500.

Details to provide include:
  • Available water pressure (a water pressure certificate can be applied for from Shoalhaven Water)
  • Existing size of water mains serving the development
  • Size of metered and unmetered services required
  • Development complexity
  • Use of water and demand allocation in calculation stage
  • Location of proposed metered and unmetered services
  • Number of meter services
  • Access to metered services
  • Maintenance and/or replacement of metered services
  • Backflow Prevention Devices (which may impact water pressure)
  • Impact to the water supply system

Service Location Plans

When you submit an online request for a new meter installation you will be asked to attach a Service Location Plan to indicate where you would like the service to be installed. This can be in the format of a JPG or PDF.

The nominated location:
  • Must be located along the front boundary
  • Must not exceed 1 meter in from the front boundary
  • Must have a 2-metre square clearance for the installation to occur. Obstructions to the request location will result in installation delays.
