In most cases, the first-time developer faces the prospect of having to pay Council fees and charges which they haven't even heard of let alone budgeted for.

Things to consider when you are developing:

Developer Contributions (also known as Section 64 Water and Sewer Contributions) are one-off upfront payments levied by Shoalhaven Water to recover part of existing and planned infrastructure costs incurred in servicing new developments or additions/changes to existing developments which impose a loading on Council’s water supply and/or sewerage infrastructure.

Water & Sewer Inspections undertaken before, during & after connection.

Building Over or Near Council Sewer  infrastructure or assets requires compliance with Council’s Building over Sewers Policy.

Demolition Information must be considered prior to demolition to ensure water and sewer lines are disconnected prior to any work being done to avoid contamination and damage to our assets.

Backflow Prevention Devices may need to be installed depending on the potential hazard to Shoalhaven City’s water supply.

Liquid Trade Waste pre-treatment equipment may need to be installed to manage liquid waste discharged into Council sewerage system. Where the development does discharge trade waste then property owner must enter into agreement with Council for such trade waste discharge/s.

Ongoing Water & Sewer Charges will be levied on a quarterly basis once water and/or sewer is connected to your property and the amount payable we be determined by the number and size of the meters connected. Water usage charges will also be charged to your account if water is being used on the property.
