Every third week of October, the Australian Water Association organises National Water Week and makes a splash across Australia, inspiring individuals, communities, and organisations to build awareness around the value of water. Access to clean water is hugely important to our daily lives, and it’s down to all of us to protect our water environments and resources and use water wisely.
This year the theme is Caring for Water and Country and celebrates the vital and cultural role that water plays in our lives. The Australian Water Association (AWA) is using National Water Week to recognise the importance our waterways play in our lives and Caring for Water and Country aims to deepen our understanding of Australian First Nations people’s knowledge of protecting and sustaining our water and lands for over 65,000 years.
What is Shoalhaven Water doing for Water Week?
Shoalhaven Water are encouraging Australian families to participate in Water Night to see if they can survive on one bucket of water for a whole 12 hours. If you think you have what it takes to take on the challenge, visit www.waternight.com.au to register or to find out more.
Our Tapstar Education Team has developed two water education videos targeting children. They have been released as part of water week along with a range of education materials that are available to teachers.
