Apply for a certificate of compliance

Under Section 307 of the Water Management Act 2000, Shoalhaven Water will grant a certificate of compliance:

  • At the completion of a development
  • At the completion of each stage of a development, or
  • Prior to obtaining an occupation certificate or subdivision certificate

A certificate of compliance can be requested by the property owner or on behalf of an organisation.

Please note: This application does not relate to the plumbing and drainage certificate of compliance, please contact Shoalhaven City Council’s building and compliance team.

Before you start

Step 1.Ensure all conditions listed on the water development notice have been complied with

Step 2.Have your documentation ready to upload

You will need the following documentation in order to submit an application:

  • Your water development notice showing evidence that each condition has been signed off
  • All relevant support documentation including receipts of payments made

These can be provided in pdf or jpg format.

What happens next

After submitting your application:

  1. The incoming application is reviewed to ensure all conditions have met compliance. Shoalhaven Water will contact you if compliance has not been met.
  2. A return email with the certificate of compliance and a signed water development notice will be sent to the applicant within 5-10 working days.
