Apply for a manifold meter connection

Where a multi-dwelling development requires two (2) or more standard (20mm) meter connections, a manifold installation is required. The size of the manifold will depend on the number of meter connections required.

Manifold meters can be a staged installation. This is useful for developments that may not require all meters to be connected at once. This option can be selected within your installation request.

Before you apply

Have your documentation ready

When you apply for a manifold meter connection, you will be asked to provide:

  • Your current water development notice number (e.g. DA23/1234),
  • A service location plan, and
  • Hydraulic plans and water sizing calculations that have been prepared by a qualified consultant. 

A service location plan is a simple diagram that provides us the information we require to install the manifold in the position you want. Your nominated location must:

  • Be positioned along the front boundary, and
  • Not exceed one (1) metre in from the front boundary.

Please note: In some cases, conduit for a long service may already be installed connecting to a water main that is located on the opposite side of the street. If your preferred location does not line up with the existing conduit, additional conduit installation costs will be incurred. In this instance we will contact you to discuss costs and possible alternative service location options.

Your service location plan and hydraulic plans can be uploaded in the application as a jpg or pdf. 

How to apply

Complete the online application form

Provide your water development notice number (e.g. DA23/1234) and upload your service location plan and hydraulic plans when prompted.

What happens next

Step 1.Application review

On receipt of application, we will review your service location plan and hydraulic plans and if approved, issue a payment advice (invoice).

Full payment must be made prior to works commencing.

Step 2.Meter installation

On receipt of payment, within 20 business days we will install the manifold and meters in accordance with the approved service location plan or agreed alternative location. You must ensure the site has a minimum two (2) metre square clearance where the installation is to occur.

Step 3.Connection to dwelling

All internal pipes on the property including taps and drains, are the property owner’s responsibility. Once meters have been installed, the property owner or builder must engage a licensed plumber to connect the metered services to the dwellings.

Should a meter be damaged or interfered with, charges may be issued to the property owner.

Service location plan example

Here is an example of a service location plan for a manifold metered service installation.

Please be reminded that your preferred location must be along the front boundary of the property. 

If your preferred location does not line up with an existing conduit, we will contact you to discuss costs and possible alternative service location options.

Hydraulic plans and water sizing calculations

Hydraulic plans or water sizing calculations must be prepared by a qualified consultant such as a plumber or hydraulics consultant in accordance with relevant Australian Standards. Details may include:

  • Available water pressure (a water pressure certificate can be issued on application)
  • Existing size of water mains serving the development
  • Size of metered and unmetered services required
  • Development complexity
  • Use of water and demand allocation in calculation stage
  • Location of proposed metered and unmetered services
  • Number of meter services
  • Access to metered services
  • Maintenance and/or replacement of metered services
  • Backflow prevention devices (which may impact water pressure)
  • Impact to the water supply system
