Pricing information
Depending on what services you buy from us there are four main pricing areas, Water, Sewerage, Trade Waste and Effluent/Septic Removal (for households that are not connected to sewer)
From 1 July 2008 all charges for water supply and sewerage services will be shown on a single account. For more information see ‘Your water account explained’.
Water Charges
In 1996 the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal recommended that water charges be calculated on a ‘pay for use’ basis - that is, the less water you use, the less you pay.
Since then Shoalhaven Water has been working to implement these recommendations and apply a fair system of water charges that more accurately reflects your individual usage. To find out in more detail how this is calculated and what this is likely to mean for you click here or go to the link at the side of this page entitled ‘Water Charges’.
Sewerage Charges
Most rural towns in NSW operate one sewerage system and treatment plant, Shoalhaven Water operates 10 Sewerage Treatment Plant for 10 schemes with another 3 currently being built. The costs to operate these schemes are high but it means that all our customers (and all the households that are set to become our customers over the next couple of years through new schemes being implemented) will continue to benefit from smooth-running and efficient systems.
The schemes will also be put to good use by providing more vital irrigation water to the region’s farms and sporting facilities as a result of the continuing work done as part of the Reclaimed Water Management Scheme (REMS).
